Our intention is to be a hub for LGBTQ people in northeast Ohio to share timely and accurate information about legal and political developments affecting our rights, help each other find and access resources, and build safety, well-being, and joy in our community.

Information

We aim to share timely and accurate information about legal and political developments affecting our rights, like state and federal legislation, court decisions, executive actions, etc. The focus will be on topics important to our community, including civil rights protections, education, workers rights, access to healthcare, marriage equality, housing, food security, financial stability, and more, based on your input and feedback. Some examples of how we plan to deliver this are:

  • Updates on current and upcoming legislation affecting LQBTQ rights

  • Know Your Rights informational sessions

  • A legal updates webpage with relevant federal, state, and local developments

  • How Your Government Works lessons

  • Bystander training

  • Name change clinics

  • Identifying and promoting informational sessions and seminars hosted by other organizations

Resources

We are seeking to collect and share community-sourced resources for news and information like reliable news outlets, websites, podcasts, social media accounts, books, journalism, and other materials that will help us understand our rights and what is happening in our country, state, and local community.  Also looking to identify trustworthy local organizations and LGBTQ-friendly professionals who can provide expert advocacy and advice for people with significant needs related to housing, legal representation, medical needs, financial guidance, and more. Some examples of what this might include are:

  • National and local news sources for LGBTQ-related topics

  • Local professionals, such as lawyers, health care providers, financial advisors, realtors, etc.

  • Local organizations providing access to food and financial resources, free/affordable legal advice, health care resources, workers rights advocacy, housing support, and more

  • Recommendations page for books, podcasts, social media accounts, etc.

Involvement

We encourage involvement and feedback from you, our community, to hear what arising issues concern you and what kind of resources you are seeking.  We also value any resources you recommend, from national news sources you respect to local organizations and professionals you have had good experiences with as a queer person.  We welcome you to join us in helping to research and process information, by hosting an information session, or if you’re a professional who is interested in offering advice and guidance in your area of expertise. Here are some examples of what you can do to help us:

  • Let us know what your concerns are or what resource needs you have

  • Recommend your favorite resources for news, social media, podcasts, local professionals (queer-friendly doctors, lawyers, real estate agents, etc.) and organizations (food bank, housing authority, preterm) that would be beneficial for others in the queer community to know

  • Do you have a group with a specific concern?  Host a meeting surrounding a specific topic

  • Professional Volunteers - we welcome input and help from other professionals to research and summarize legislative and policy changes, or help answer questions that may arise from people in the community. (Especially seeking in the fields of: immigration, political activism, housing and real estate, family law, social services, and medical law).
